The Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club is a famous historic hotel in Miami Beach, Florida. You can find it at 3925 Collins Avenue. This beautiful building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in the U.S. on October 5, 2005. This means it's recognized as an important historical place!
A Look Back in Time
The Cadillac Hotel was built in 1940. It was designed by a well-known architect named Roy France. Later, in 1956, Melvin Grossman designed an addition to the hotel. The hotel is also part of the Collins Waterfront Architectural District, which is another area listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
For most of its history, the Cadillac Hotel has been a place for people to stay. However, for three years, from 1942 to 1945, the United States military used it. After that, it went back to being a hotel.
Design and Architecture
The hotel is built using concrete blocks. It has a smooth stucco finish on the outside. The building stands on a strong foundation of wood pilings and a concrete slab. Its design shows off the popular Art Deco and Moderne styles from the 1940s. These styles are known for their sleek lines and decorative touches.
Modern Updates
For many years, the Cadillac Hotel was part of the Courtyard by Marriott hotel family. It was known as the Courtyard Cadillac Miami Beach/Oceanfront. In September 2017, the hotel closed for a big renovation project. Its owners, Hersha Hospitality Trust, wanted to make it even better.
The hotel reopened in August 2018. Now, it is part of the Autograph Collection by Marriott. It has 357 guest rooms, two swimming pools, and spaces for meetings. There are also a bar and restaurants for guests to enjoy.
