La Grange Mine

The La Grange Mine (Landmark #778) was a very big gold mine located near Weaverville. It wasn't a regular mine where people dug underground. Instead, it was a "hydraulic" mine. This means miners used powerful jets of water to wash away hillsides and find gold. It was one of the largest hydraulic mines in California.

Weaverville Joss House

The Weaverville Joss House (Landmark #709) is a unique and historic Chinese temple in Weaverville. It's officially known as the Weaverville Joss House State Historic Park. This temple was built by Chinese immigrants who came to California during the Gold Rush. It's one of the oldest continuously used Chinese temples in California. It shows the important role Chinese people played in the history of the state.
