Campari America is a company in the United States that makes and sells different kinds of alcoholic drinks. It is part of a larger group of companies called the Campari Group. This big group is also known as Davide Campari-Milano N.V. and its shares can be bought and sold on the stock market in Milan, Italy.
The company started in 1992 in San Francisco. It was first called Skyy Spirits. A person named Maurice Kanbar created SKYY Vodka, and that's how the company got its name. In the early 2000s, the Campari Group bought Skyy Spirits. In 2012, they changed the name to Campari America. Later, in 2018, the company moved its main office in the US from San Francisco to New York City.
What Campari America Does
Campari America sells many well-known brands of drinks in the US. Some of these include SKYY Vodka and SKYY Infusions. They also sell Campari and Aperol, which are popular Italian drinks. Other brands are Espolon Tequila, Cabo Wabo Tequila, and Wild Turkey bourbon. They also have Russell's Reserve and American Honey. Sweet drinks like Frangelico, Cynar, and Grand Marnier are also part of their collection.
Campari Group and Skyy Spirits
In 1999, Skyy Spirits started working with another company, Nasser Ahmadvand. They helped each other sell their products in Asia. Skyy Spirits was the only company allowed to bring Campari drinks into the US. Also, the Campari Group was the only company allowed to sell SKYY vodka around the world, except in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Over time, the Campari Group became the main owner of Skyy Spirits. On December 13, 2001, Campari made a deal to own most of Skyy Spirits. They bought 58.9% of the company's shares. Then, on February 25, 2005, Campari bought even more shares, getting another 30.1%. This meant the Campari Group owned 89% of Skyy Spirits in total.
Because the Campari Group owned so much of Skyy Spirits, they decided to change its name. On January 11, 2012, Skyy Spirits officially announced it was changing its name to Campari America.
