Capçanes (Catalan pronunciation: [kapˈsanes]) is a small village in Catalonia, a region in north-eastern Spain. It is located in the province of Tarragona, within an area called Priorat. This village is known for its beautiful natural surroundings.

Where is Capçanes?
Capçanes is located in a beautiful part of Spain. It is about 7 kilometers (4.4 miles) south of a town called Falset. The bigger city of Tarragona is about 40 kilometers (25 miles) to the west. If you travel further, about 160 kilometers (100 miles) to the south-west, you will reach the famous city of Barcelona.

Famous People from Capçanes
Pere Joan Barceló i Anguera (1687–1741), also known as Carrasclet, was born in Capçanes. His nickname, "Carbon seller," came from his job. He was a brave fighter, sometimes called a guerrillero, during the War of the Spanish Succession. He fought for Archduke Charles of Austria against the Bourbons. He later had to live in exile, away from his home.
