Captain's Wafers are a popular type of cracker made by Lance Inc., a well-known American food company. These crackers are light and have a delicious buttery taste. Many people enjoy eating them with soups and salads. They were even mentioned in a song called "Camel Walk" by the music group Southern Culture on the Skids.

How Captain's Wafers Got Their Name

The name "Captain's Wafers" has an interesting story behind it. According to David Beard, who works as a training director at Lance Inc., the idea for the name came from the thought that "on a ship, the captains always had the best of everything when it came to meals." So, the name was chosen to show that these crackers were the very best.

The name was suggested by Joe M. Logan, who was an executive vice president of sales and marketing at Lance. He retired from the company in 1975. Mr. Logan had served in the US Army's 7th Infantry Division during World War II in the South Pacific. When he was returning home in 1946 on a merchant ship, he was invited to eat at the Captain's table. This special experience gave him the idea for the crackers' name.
