Caravan was a fun Canadian children's TV show. It aired on CBC Television from 1960 to 1962.
What Was Caravan About?
Imagine a TV show that looked like a two-ring circus! Caravan was filmed in front of about 700 people. It was a special show because it was bilingual, meaning it used both English and French.
The main host was called the Ringmaster, Monsieur Loyal. He was played by Guy Mauffette. He introduced exciting circus acts. These included amazing animal performers, brave lion tamers, and daring trapeze artists. Two funny clowns, Guy L'Ecuyer and Giani Scarpi, were also regular characters on the show.
When Did Caravan Air?
Each episode of Caravan was an hour long. On CBC Television, which is the English network, it aired on Fridays at 4:30 PM (Eastern time). It ran for three seasons, from early July to September each year. If you watched on Radio-Canada, which is the French network, you could catch new episodes on Saturdays.
