Carey Means grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. He went to Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. There, he earned a degree in Fine Arts with a focus on Vocal Music. This training helped him develop his voice for acting.
He is very skilled at speaking in many different accents. These include Australian, British, German, Italian, and French accents. He can also do accents from Jamaica, Hispanic cultures, and various parts of the United States.

Carey Means lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife, Leah Means. In March 2022, his wife shared that he had been in the hospital. He was treated for a heart condition.
