Carichí is a town located in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. It is the main town, also known as the municipal seat, for the larger area called the Carichí Municipality. This means it's where the local government for the area is based.

The town of Carichí was first started as a special settlement by a group called the Jesuits. They were a religious order who built missions to teach and live among local people. This mission was named Nombre de Jesús Carichi and was founded on November 18, 1675. The name "Carichí" comes from the Tarahumara language, from the word "Güerocarichí." For a long time, until August 24, 1982, the town was officially known as Carichic.

In 2020, about 1,830 people lived in Carichí. This was a small increase from 1,672 people in 2010.
