Carles Trepat is a talented classical guitarist from Spain, born in 1960. He has won several big international awards for his guitar playing. For example, he won the "Premio Tárrega" and the "Honorific Prize José Tomás."
Carles Trepat was born in a Spanish city called Lleida in 1960. He started learning to play the guitar when he was thirteen years old. He was lucky enough to learn from some very famous guitar teachers. One of his teachers, Emilio Pujol, had even learned from Francisco Tárrega, a legendary guitarist! Some of his other important teachers included José Tomás and Eduardo Sainz de la Maza.
Carles Trepat often plays using special old guitars. These guitars were made by famous builders like Antonio Torres and Santos Hernández. He also plays modern guitars made by skilled craftsmen. Sometimes, he even uses real gut and silk strings on his old guitars, just like musicians did a long time ago!
He is known for finding and playing music by an old musician named Miguel García, also known as Padre Basilio. This musician was the teacher of another famous guitarist, Dionisio Aguado. Carles Trepat has recorded many CDs. On these CDs, you can hear music by different composers like Federico Mompou, Isaac Albéniz, and Francisco Tárrega.
