Carlos Augusto Zopolato Neves (born 7 January 1999), known as Carlos Augusto, is a Brazilian professional footballer. He plays as a left-back or left wing-back for the Italian club Inter Milan. He also plays for the Brazil national team. Carlos is known for his strong defense and good crossing skills. He can also play as a centre-back.

Club career
Corinthians
Carlos started his football journey at age 12. He joined the youth team of Corinthians. In 2017, he was part of the team that won the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior. This is a big youth football tournament in Brazil.
Carlos made his first professional appearance for Corinthians in July 2018. His official debut as a starter was in August of the same year. He played 32 official games for Corinthians and scored one goal. He also helped his team win the Campeonato Paulista (a state championship) twice, in 2018 and 2019.
Monza
On 28 August 2020, Carlos moved to Monza. This club had just been promoted to Serie B, a top Italian football league. He scored his first goal for Monza in December 2020. It was a long-range shot against Venezia. He was the youngest defender in the 2020–21 Serie B season to score from far away.
Carlos scored again in December. He finished the season with three goals and two assists. He was even named in the Serie B Team of the Season. In the 2021–22 season, he scored in the 2021–22 Coppa Italia (Italian Cup). Carlos was very important in helping Monza get promoted to Serie A for the first time ever. They won a special play-off final against Pisa.
Carlos played his first Serie A game on 13 August 2022. He scored his first Serie A goal in October against Spezia. He ended the season with six goals and five assists.
Inter Milan
On 15 August 2023, Carlos joined Inter Milan. He moved on a one-year loan deal. This deal included a plan for Inter to buy him later. On 20 December 2023, Carlos scored his first goal for Inter. It was in a Coppa Italia match against Bologna.
International career
On 13 December 2018, Carlos was chosen for the Brazil U20 squad. He played in the 2019 South American U-20 Championship.
On 6 October 2023, Carlos was called up to the senior national team. He made his debut on 17 October 2023. This was during a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification match against Uruguay.
Style of play
Carlos mainly plays as a left-back. He can also play as a centre-back. This means he can play in the middle of the defense. He is known for his ability to jump high and his strong defensive skills. Even though he is good at defending, Carlos also has good attacking skills. His crossing (kicking the ball across the field) is especially good. People have said he is "ideal for Italian football" because of his balanced skills.
Personal life
Carlos has an Italian passport. He got it because his great-grandparents were Italian. Monza fans affectionately call him "l'Imperatore" (The Emperor). This nickname is a reference to the Roman emperor Augustus.
