History of Carntown
Carntown wasn't always known by its current name. For a while, it was called Motier.
In 1839, a post office was opened in Motier. A post office is a place where people can send and receive mail. Back then, post offices were very important for communities, helping people stay connected.
The name of the community changed to Carntown in 1891. This new name came from Jacob Carnes, who was one of the early postmasters (the person in charge of the post office) in the area. The post office in Carntown eventually closed its doors in 1920.
