Carol Ann Alt (born December 1, 1960) is an American model and actress who became one of the most famous faces in the world during the 1980s. She is often called a "supermodel" because of her incredible success.

Early Life and Discovery

Carol Alt was born in Flushing, Queens, a part of New York City. Her mother, Muriel, was a model and worked for an airline. Her father, Anthony Alt, was a battalion chief for the New York City Fire Department, which means he was a high-ranking firefighter.

Carol is the third of four children. While working as a waitress on Long Island to save money for college, she was discovered by a modeling agent. At just 18 years old, she decided to give modeling a try for the summer, a decision that changed her life.

A Famous Modeling Career

Becoming a Supermodel

Carol's career took off quickly. In 1979, she appeared on the cover of Harper's Bazaar magazine. Her biggest break came in 1982 when she was on the cover of the famous Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Throughout the 1980s, Carol was one of the most in-demand models. She appeared on more than 500 magazine covers, including famous ones like Vogue, Elle, and Cosmopolitan. Her amazing success earned her the title of supermodel.

The Face

She became so well-known that Life Magazine gave her the nickname "The Face." She was the star of advertising campaigns for major companies like Diet Pepsi, General Motors, and Cover Girl Cosmetics. She was also the first model to create and sell her own posters and calendars.

Acting and Television

From Movies to TV Shows

Starting in 1986, Carol began a successful acting career. She starred in many movies, especially in Italy. In 1994, she played Kelly LaRue in the TV series "Thunder in Paradise." She also played Agent Monica McBride in the action movie The Protector in 1997.

She later starred in the TV series Amazon and had a voice role in an episode of the cartoon King of the Hill. Over the years, she has appeared in many other movies and TV shows in both the United States and Italy.

Reality TV and Hosting

Carol has also been a part of popular reality TV shows. In 2008, she competed on The Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump. She played to raise money for a charity that helps young people pay for college. She finished in third place and raised $40,000 for her cause.

In 2009, she was a contestant on the Italian version of Dancing with the Stars. From 2013 to 2015, she hosted her own TV show on the Fox News channel called A Healthy You & Carol Alt, where she shared tips on health and wellness.

Business and Writing

Besides modeling and acting, Carol is also a business owner and author. She has written two books about her healthy lifestyle, focusing on a raw food diet. A raw food diet involves eating foods that are not cooked.

She also started her own skincare and beauty product line called Raw Essentials. She has used her fame and knowledge to help others learn about staying healthy.

Personal Life

In 1983, Carol married Ron Greschner, who was a professional ice hockey player for the New York Rangers. They were divorced in 1996. Later, she was in a long-term relationship with another hockey star, Alexei Yashin of the New York Islanders.
