Carole Anne-Marie Gist (born May 8, 1969) is an American TV host and model. She is famous for winning the Miss USA 1990 beauty pageant. Carole Gist made history as the first African American woman to ever win the Miss USA title.
Carole Gist first won the title of Miss Michigan USA. After that, she competed in the Miss USA pageant. She won the Miss USA crown on March 2, 1990, in Wichita, Kansas. She was 20 years old at the time. Carole Gist is from Detroit and is 6 ft 0 in (183 cm) tall.
In the same year, she competed in the Miss Universe pageant. She finished as the first runner-up to Mona Grudt from Norway. Carole Gist was also the first person from Michigan to win Miss USA. Her win ended a five-year streak of winners from Texas.
