Carolyn Jane Griffiths is a super important railway engineer. She helped start and led the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) in the UK. This group investigates train accidents to find out what went wrong. She was the Chief Inspector, reporting to the government's transport leader. She was also the president of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers from 2017 to 2018.
Carolyn's Journey in Railways
Carolyn Griffiths started working in the railway industry in 1979. She learned a lot about how trains and railways work. Her career has been all about making train travel safer and better.
Becoming a Top Engineer
In 2013, Carolyn was chosen as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. This is a really big honor for engineers. It means she is recognized as one of the best engineers in the country.
Special Awards and Recognition
Also in 2013, Cranfield University gave Carolyn a special award. It was an honorary doctorate. They gave it to her because of all her amazing work for the railway industry. This award shows how much her contributions are valued.
