Sister Channels
Boomerang Channel
Boomerang is a sister channel to Cartoon Network. It used to be a special block on Cartoon Network. This block showed classic cartoons from Hanna-Barbera. Many of these cartoons did not have their own regular show times.
The Boomerang block started in April 2001. It aired in the mornings from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Later, in August 2001, it also had a shorter block in the evenings. The cartoons shown on Boomerang changed every week.
The Boomerang blocks had fun video clips between shows. These clips showed children's toys of Hanna-Barbera characters coming to life. These clips were the same as those used on the Boomerang channel in the United States. Sometimes, these clips were also used on the Boomerang TV channel.
The evening block of Boomerang stopped airing in March 2002. The morning block stopped in September 2004. However, some late-night Boomerang shows continued on Cartoon Network until early 2005. This was when the Boomerang channel got a new look. In late 2012, Boomerang Australia and New Zealand started to look like the Boomerang channel in the UK and Ireland.
