The Casa Suárez is a beautiful house located in Lima, Peru. It's a special building that was officially named a Cultural Heritage of the Nation in May 2007. This means it's an important part of Peru's history and culture.

History of Casa Suárez

Building the House

The Casa Suárez was built around 1939. A talented Polish architect named Ricardo de Jaxa Malachowski designed it. He was hired in 1932 by Gay Suárez del Castillo.

Gay Suárez del Castillo was a doctor and also a congressman. A congressman is someone who helps make laws for the country. He was an important person during the time when Manuel Prado was president of Peru.

A Place for Important Guests

This house was a popular spot for important people in politics to visit. It was a place where leaders and government officials would gather. Gay Suárez del Castillo lived in the house until he passed away on January 4, 1968.

Bringing the House Back to Life

In July 2016, the Casa Suárez got a big makeover! The local government of Miraflores (where the house is) started a special project. Their goal was to fix up old buildings that were important to history.

They spent about S/.400,000 (Peruvian Soles) on the restoration. Experts from the Ministry of Culture made sure the work was done correctly. Now, the house looks great and is ready for many more years!

About the Casa Suárez

A Special Design

The Casa Suárez is a family home built in a style called neo-baroque. This style looks like the grand buildings from the old Baroque period in Europe. You can find it at 42 Arequipa Avenue in the Miraflores district.

What makes this house really unique is its front part, called the façade. Its design was inspired by the Government Palace of Peru. The Government Palace is where the President of Peru works and lives.

Inside the Grand House

The house is very large, covering more than 1,300 square meters. That's a lot of space! It has 35 rooms inside.

Some of these rooms include a grand entrance hall, two main living rooms, and a dining room. There's also a central patio, which is an open area inside the house. The house even has its own chapel with a special image of the Lord of Miracles.
