Casey Viator's Early Life and Training
Casey grew up in a place called New Iberia, Louisiana. He started his bodybuilding journey by training with Kenwood Broussard. In 1968, Casey showed his potential by placing third in the Mr. Louisiana contest. The next year, in 1969, he competed in the Teen Mr. America contest. He finished sixth overall but won special awards for having the best arms, best abs, best chest, best legs, and being the most muscular! By 1970, Casey's upper arm measured over 19 inches, which is very impressive for a young bodybuilder.
Becoming a Champion
Casey Viator trained under the guidance of a famous inventor named Arthur Jones. They worked together for ten months before the big Mr. America contest. They first met briefly in 1970 at the Mr. America contest in Los Angeles. Casey was only 18 then and placed third. Arthur Jones saw how much potential Casey had. He offered Casey a job at his company, which later became known as Nautilus Sports Medicine.
With hard work and dedication, Casey won several important titles. He became the Teen Age Mr. America champion and the Jr. Mister America champion. Then, in 1971, he achieved his biggest dream: he won the title of Mr. America! Years later, in 1982, he competed in the Mr. Olympia contest, which is one of the highest honors in bodybuilding. He earned an impressive third place in that competition.
Casey's Work and Legacy
Besides competing, Casey Viator also shared his knowledge with others. He wrote articles for popular magazines like Muscle & Fitness and Flex. He helped inspire many people with his dedication to fitness and bodybuilding.
Casey Viator passed away on September 4, 2013, on his 62nd birthday. He had a heart attack. He is remembered as a true legend in the world of bodybuilding, especially for his record-breaking win as the youngest Mr. America.
