Caterina Bueno (born April 2, 1943 – died July 16, 2007) was a well-known Italian singer. She was also a historian who studied and preserved Italian folk music. She helped many people discover the beauty of traditional Italian songs.

Discovering Italian Folk Music
Caterina Bueno started her career in the 1960s. She spent a lot of time researching old Italian folk songs. She was especially interested in the traditional music from Tuscany, a region in Italy.
Early Life and Research
Caterina was born in San Domenico di Fiesole, Italy. Her father, Xavier Bueno, was a painter from Spain. Her mother, Julia Chamorel, was a writer from Switzerland. Caterina taught herself how to play the guitar. She also collected many folk music records. Most of these records were from Tuscany.
Working with Music Groups
Caterina became very active with the l'Istituto Ernesto De Martino. This was a group that studied and promoted folk culture. She also worked with the magazine Nuovo Canzoniere Italiano. Both groups focused on sharing traditional Italian music.

Throughout her career, Caterina worked with many other artists. One famous artist was Francesco De Gregori. He even wrote a song called "Caterina" as a tribute to her. This shows how much she was respected in the music world.
