Catherine Muthoni Coffey is a talented British singer. She was an important early member of a hip hop band called Stereo MCs. She helped them create some of their most famous songs!

In 1990, Catherine was a backing vocalist for the Stereo MCs on their album Supernatural. One song from that album, "Elevate My Mind", was very special. It was the first British rap song to reach the top 100 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 music chart!

In 1992, the Stereo MCs released another album called Connected. Catherine Coffey sang on several tracks, including the popular songs "Connected", "Ground Level", and "Step It Up".

Catherine Coffey also worked with other musicians. In 1996, she was featured on the album Nearly God by an artist known as Tricky. This album also included other famous singers like Björk and Neneh Cherry.

She also sang lead vocals on a song called "Streets Desire" from the album Fearless by Junior Delgado in 1998.

Solo Music and Other Projects

Catherine released her own solo album in 1997. It was called Mind the Gap and was released in Japan by Island Records.

She also contributed her voice to the band Terranova. In 1999, she sang on their first album, Close the Door, on songs like "Turn Around" and "Sweet Bitter Love". She continued working with them on their second album, Hitchhiking Non-Stop With No Particular Destination, in 2002.
