Catherine St Aubyn was born in 1760. Her father was Sir John St Aubyn, 4th Baronet. He belonged to a very old and important family from Clowance in Cornwall. This family was known as the St Aubyn baronets.

Catherine's father was a good friend and supporter of a famous painter named John Opie. Because of this friendship, Catherine was able to take art lessons from John Opie. This helped her develop her artistic skills.
Her brother was Sir John St Aubyn, 5th Baronet. He was a Member of Parliament for a long time. He was also very interested in collecting fossils.

Catherine St Aubyn's artwork is not very common. However, you can find a few of her paintings at St Michael's Mount. This is a famous island castle located off the coast of Cornwall.
Catherine St Aubyn's Marriage and Later Life
On June 26, 1790, Catherine St Aubyn married her cousin, the Reverend John Molesworth. He was a church leader, known as the rector, in a place called St Breock in Cornwall.
Family and Legacy
When Catherine passed away in 1836, her son inherited her share of the St Aubyn family's estates. These were important family lands and properties.
There is a special window in the church at St Breock. It has an inscription that remembers both Catherine and her husband. The inscription says: "In memory of the Rev. John Molesworth, rector of this parish, who was buried in the chancel, Sept., 26th 1811, and of Catherine Molesworth, his wife, daughter of Sir John St. Aubyn, Bart., of Clowance." This shows how important they were to the local community.
