Cathy Kelly was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She grew up in Dublin, Ireland. She went to a convent school when she was younger.
Her Start as a Journalist
Cathy started her career as a journalist. She worked for a newspaper called the Sunday World. There, she wrote an advice column, where she gave tips to readers. She also wrote film criticism, sharing her thoughts on movies.
Becoming a Bestselling Author
Cathy Kelly's first book was called Woman To Woman. It came out in 1997 and quickly became a huge success around the world. After that, she wrote two more books, She’s The One and Never Too Late. In 2001, she decided to stop being a journalist to focus completely on writing books.
Many more popular books followed, like Someone Like You and What She Wants. In 2005, her book Always and Forever became a number one bestseller in the UK. This means it was the most popular book sold at that time!
Her books Lessons in Heartbreak and Homecoming were nominated for an award at the Irish Book Awards. Another book, Once in a Lifetime, was also a top seller for many weeks. Her collection of short stories, Christmas Magic, was the number one book in Ireland during Christmas.

Helping Others
