Catrin Grosse's Artistic Journey
Catrin G. Grosse started her art journey at 16. She took evening classes in painting and graphic design in Cottbus. At the same time, she was finishing high school.
From 1984 to 1989, she studied painting and graphic design at the College of Fine Arts in Dresden. She earned her diploma in 1991. After that, she continued her studies as a master's student until 1993.
Developing New Art Techniques
Catrin Grosse received a special art sponsorship from Philip Morris from 1993 to 1994. This allowed her to work at the Museum Schloss Moritzburg.
Then, from 1994 to 1995, she received a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Art in London. There, she created a new printing method called anvil print technology. This is a special way to make prints that combines different printing techniques. It uses oil paint on thick, handmade paper with a soft press.
Working as a Professional Artist
Since 1995, Catrin Grosse has been a full-time artist. She works as a painter, graphic artist, and sculptor.
She has given many talks and workshops at universities. These include the University of Art & Design in Coventry and the University of Wales. Since 2002, she has also taught creative techniques. Her goal is to help more people learn about art.
From 1997 to 2006, she worked with ceramic artists and companies. She also collaborated with a jewelry designer. Since 2004, she has created several short films.
Since 1998, Grosse has focused on printmaking, sculpture, and art installations. An installation is a type of art that uses a space to create an experience.
