Cecil Aldary Portocarrero Thiré (born May 28, 1943 – died October 9, 2020) was a talented Brazilian actor and director. He worked in television, movies, and theater.

Who Was Cecil Thiré?

Cecil Thiré was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His mother was the famous actress Tônia Carrero. His father was artist Carlos Arthur Thiré. Cecil was named after his grandfather, who was a math teacher.

His Early Career

When Cecil was 17, he started studying acting. He worked a lot in theater during the 1960s. At 18, he got his first professional job. He was an assistant director for a movie called Os Fuzis.

A year later, at 19, he directed his first short film. It was called Os Mendigos. He also directed two feature films later on. These were O diabo mora no sangue and O Ibrahim do subúrbio.

Acting on Screen

Cecil Thiré started acting in movies when he was very young. He was only nine years old! His first small role was in a movie called Tico-Tico no fubá. His mother, Tônia Carrero, was the star of that movie.

Over his career, he acted in more than twenty films. He also became well-known on television. He appeared in many telenovelas (which are like long TV soap operas). He also acted in miniseries and comedy shows. His first TV role was in 1967. It was in the telenovela Angústia de amar.

Later Life

Cecil Thiré continued to work in entertainment for many years. He was a respected actor and director. He passed away on October 9, 2020, at the age of 77. He had been living with Parkinson's disease.
