Cecilio Valverde Mazuelas (born June 27, 1927 – died June 11, 2001) was an important Spanish politician and lawyer. He served as the President of the Senate from 1979 to 1982.

Cecilio Valverde was born in Córdoba, a city in Spain. He went to high school at Colegio de La Salle in his hometown. After that, he studied Law at the Central University of Madrid. He earned his law degree in 1948.

After finishing his studies, he worked as a lawyer. He practiced law in different cities. These included Córdoba, Seville, Granada, and Madrid.

In 1961, he traveled to Antioquia, Colombia. He went there to help spread a religious movement called Cursillos de Cristiandad. He helped bring this movement to Córdoba, Spain.

From 1962 to 1966, he was the Secretary of the Bar Association of Córdoba. This is a group for lawyers. He was also a member of the board of directors for the Caja Provincial de Ahorros de Córdoba. This was a local savings bank.

Cecilio Valverde became the President of the Senate of Spain. He held this important position from March 27, 1979, until August 31, 1982. The Senate is a part of the Spanish government. It helps make laws for the country.

While he was President of the Senate, an incident happened at his home. On May 1, 1980, a fake bomb was left at his door in Córdoba. This act was linked to a group called Armed Groups 28 de Febrero.

Cecilio Valverde passed away in June 2001. He died at his home in Madrid. He was married and had nine children.
