Cedric Cox, born on August 19, 1997, is a talented Australian rules football player. He used to play for the Brisbane Lions team in the Australian Football League (AFL). He played as a defender and midfielder during his career.
Early Life and Football Beginnings
Cedric grew up in a place called Halls Creek, Western Australia. This is where he first started playing junior football. Later, he moved to Camperdown, Victoria. There, he continued to play football with a team called the North Ballarat Rebels.
Cedric's AFL Career
Cedric Cox was chosen by the Brisbane Lions in the 2016 national draft. He was the 24th player picked overall. He made his first appearance in an AFL game in 2017. This was during Round 4 of the season, when the Brisbane Lions played against Richmond at the Gabba stadium.
In May 2017, Cedric was going to wear a special jersey number, 67. This was for the Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round game. The number 67 was chosen to remember the 1967 referendum. This important event allowed Indigenous Australians to be counted in the national census. It also meant they could be included in laws for all Australians. Even though he was going to wear the special jersey, Cedric did not play in that specific game.
After the 2020 AFL season ended, Cedric asked to move to a team in Western Australia. However, the Brisbane Lions decided to let him go from their team.
