Celia Rose Gooding (born February 22, 2000) is an American actor and singer. They became well-known for their first role on Broadway. This was as Frankie Healy in the rock musical Jagged Little Pill. For this role, they won a Grammy Award in 2021. They were also nominated for a Tony Award in 2020. At 20 years old, they were one of the youngest people ever nominated in that category. Celia also plays Nyota Uhura in the TV show Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. This show started in 2022 on Paramount+.

Early Life and Education
Celia Gooding was born in New York City. Their mother is the famous actress, singer, and dancer LaChanze. Celia's father, Calvin Gooding, passed away during the sad events of September 11, 2001. Celia has one sister named Zaya.
School Days
Celia went to Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York. They studied performing arts and did very well. Sometimes, Celia took time off from school to work on the musical Jagged Little Pill. They helped develop the show from the beginning. During their junior year, they had special tutoring for three hours each morning. This helped them keep up with schoolwork while rehearsing. For their final school project, Celia worked on the show's tryout performances.
Celia also studied dance at the Alvin Ailey Institute. They learned acting and film at the Berridge Conservatory in Normandy.
College Experience

Broadway Debut
In 2017, when Celia was 17, they were cast in the first reading of Jagged Little Pill. This musical was based on the songs of Alanis Morissette. Celia created the role of Frankie Healy. Frankie is a 17-year-old activist who was adopted into a family. Celia performed in the show's first public performances in 2018.
Celia continued playing Frankie when the show moved to Broadway in November 2019. They received many awards and honors for their performance. They also performed on TV shows like Late Night with Seth Meyers and Good Morning America.
In 2019, Celia and their mother, LaChanze, were both starring in Broadway shows at the same time. This is a very rare event for a mother and daughter.
