History of the Castle

The castle of Tours-en-Vimeu has a long history, with several important families connected to it.

Early Lords

The ownership of Tours-en-Vimeu was passed down through families. Enguerrand de Umfraville inherited the lordship from his uncle, Enguerrand de Balliol, who passed away in 1299 without children.

Later, John de Moubray became the lord through his mother, Eva de Umfraville. Sadly, he was killed in 1332.

Quiéret Family

Another person named Hugues Quiéret, likely a descendant, died during the Battle of Azincourt in 1415, fighting against the English.

Later Residents

In 1690, Alexandre de Maïoc, who was also the lord of other areas like Esmailleville and Cauroy, lived at the castle of Tours.
