In the past, Pilgrim worked at other major music companies such as Roc-A-Fella Records, Island Def Jam, Atlantic Records, and Virgin Records. She also has her own company called Chakaworks, where she helps artists with marketing. Currently, Chaka Pilgrim leads the film and television projects for Shawn Carter Enterprises.

Chaka Pilgrim has been involved with Jay-Z's career since the 1990s. She played a big role in creating and producing the music videos for his album, 4:44. These videos included "BAM," "4:44," and "Moonlight."
