What is Chalampé?
Chalampé is a commune, which is the smallest way France divides its land for local government. It's like a town or village with its own local council.
How Chalampé Started
Chalampé was founded a long time ago, in the year 1709. It was started by soldiers who had just won an important battle. These soldiers were led by a military leader named Marshal Dubourg. They had defeated the Austrian army, led by Count Claude Florimond de Mercy, during a big conflict called the War of the Spanish Succession. After their victory, these soldiers helped create the town of Chalampé.
