Even after the main Civil Rights Movement, Charles Hudspeth stayed active in his community. He also spent more time with his family and at his church. For over 20 years, he was the chairman of the trustee board at the historic Mt Zion First Baptist Church in San Antonio.

His Family and Legacy

Charles Hudspeth passed away in 1999 after being sick for a long time. He was buried next to his wife, Mary Louise, at Meadowlawn Memorial Park. They had been married for almost 60 years.

All three of their children grew up to be successful professionals. Their son, Gregory, is now a Dean at St. Phillips College in San Antonio. Their daughter, Armeania (Mimi), works as a Campus Instructional Coordinator for the San Antonio Independent School District. They continued their family's legacy of contributing to the community.
