Charlie Rasmussen Gjedde (born December 28, 1979, in Holstebro, Denmark) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider from Denmark. He is famous for helping his country, Denmark, win the Speedway World Cup in 2006. Charlie played for the Danish national speedway team 11 times during his career.
Charlie's Speedway Career
Charlie Gjedde was a very talented rider from a young age. When he was just 15, he became the Danish Under-21 Champion in 1995. This showed everyone he had a bright future in speedway!
Riding for Denmark
Charlie proudly represented Denmark in the Speedway World Cup starting in 2002. This is a big competition where countries race against each other. He also appeared three times as a reserve rider in the Speedway Grand Prix series. This series features the best individual riders in the world.
His biggest team win was in 2006 when Denmark won the Speedway World Cup. This was a huge achievement for Charlie and his team!
Racing in Great Britain
Charlie also spent a lot of time racing in Great Britain. He first rode for the Swindon Robins team in 1998. The next year, in 1999, he joined the Coventry Bees on loan from Swindon.
In 2003, Charlie was part of the Swindon team that won the Premier League Four-Team Championship. This exciting event took place at the Abbey Stadium on July 27, 2003.
Later in his career, he rode for the Belle Vue Aces in the Elite League. He was with them in 2008, 2009, and again in 2011.
Other Teams
In 2010, Charlie rode for the Outrup team in the Danish Speedway League. He also raced for many other teams in different countries, including Poland.
