Charles Thomas Shields (born October 20, 1922 – died October 18, 1955) was an American baseball player. He was a talented pitcher in the 1940s. Charlie played in the Negro leagues. These leagues were where African American players played during a time when they were not allowed in Major League Baseball.

Charlie Shields was born in Whipple, West Virginia. He started his professional baseball career in 1941. His first teams were the New York Cubans and the Chicago American Giants.
Playing for Top Teams
Charlie continued to play for the Chicago American Giants in 1942 and 1943. In 1943, he also joined the Homestead Grays. This was a very famous team. The Grays won the 1943 Negro World Series championship that year. Charlie helped them by winning 3 games and not losing any. He played in five games for the Grays during their championship season.
Later Life
Charlie Shields passed away in Scarbro, West Virginia, in 1955. He was 32 years old.
