Early Life and Career Start

Charlotte Moss was born in Richmond, Virginia. After finishing high school, she studied English at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). In 1978, she moved to New York City. She worked on Wall Street for seven years. After a big change at her job, Charlotte decided to try something new. Even though she studied English and didn't have formal design training, she opened her own company. She called it Charlotte Moss & Co. This company was both an interior design business and an antique store.

Designing Homes and Collections

Charlotte Moss has decorated many private homes. These homes are all over the United States and in other countries. She has worked for famous people like Susan and Michael Bloomberg.

In 2007, she opened a special showroom in Manhattan. It was called the Charlotte Moss Townhouse. This was a place where people could see her designs.

Charlotte has used her many years of experience to create her own collections. She has designed furniture, fabrics, and wallpapers. She also created carpets, china, and garden planters. Her designs include photography prints, clothing, and accessories. She often gives talks about interior design. She shares her knowledge at museums, garden clubs, and other events.

Awards and Special Honors

Charlotte has received many awards throughout her career. She is an Elle Décor A-List Designer and a "Grand Master." She was also named a top design icon by Traditional Home magazine. In 2017, she received the Centennial Medal of Honor. She also won the Elle Décor Vision Award in 2009. The Royal Oak Foundation gave her the Timeless Design Award in 2010. She has honorary doctorate degrees from the New York School of Interior Design and Virginia Commonwealth University.
