Chattagahaka Jantu (also known as Chhattagahaka) was a ruling queen of the Kingdom of Anuradhapura. She ruled for about one year, from 434 AD to 435 AD. She became queen after her stepbrother, Soththisena. Later, Mittasena became king after her.

Queen Chattagahaka Jantu's Short Reign

Queen Chattagahaka Jantu belonged to the House of Lambakanna I. She took the throne after her stepbrother, Soththisena. Her time as queen was brief. After her rule, Mittasena became the next king.

The Rise of Mittasena

Mittasena was known for taking crops from farmers unfairly. Queen Chattagahaka Jantu's Chief Minister played a big part in Mittasena becoming king. The Chief Minister actually wanted to be king himself. But instead, he made Mittasena a "puppet ruler." This means Mittasena was king in name, but the Chief Minister controlled everything.

A King Kept Hidden

It was normal for kings to attend public events and festivals. However, the Chief Minister kept Mittasena hidden from the public. The Chief Minister managed all the country's affairs himself. He held all the power and made all the decisions.
