Chaz Ebert (born Charlie Hammel, October 15, 1952) is an American businesswoman and attorney. She is well-known as the wife of the famous film critic Roger Ebert. They were married from 1992 until his death in 2013.

Early Life and Education

Chaz Ebert was born in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were Johnnie Hobbs Hammel and Wiley Hammel Sr. She went to Crane Technical High School in Chicago.

She studied at several universities. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Dubuque. Later, she received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville. She also earned a law degree, called a Juris Doctor, from the DePaul University College of Law.

Chaz Ebert is a busy person in the film and media world. She was an executive producer for the TV show Ebert Presents: At the Movies. She also appeared as a guest on the show.
