Chaz Lamar Shepherd is an American actor and singer. He is well-known for his roles in popular TV shows. These include Artis Tower in Me and the Boys and John Hamilton in 7th Heaven. He also played Piranha in Luke Cage. Many people also remember him as Al Bryant in The Temptations miniseries.

Growing Up in Philadelphia
Chaz Shepherd grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was very active in his church, Tindley Temple United Methodist Church. He also graduated from Evelyn Graves Christian Academy. His mother, Cheryl Shepherd, was a dancer and choreographer. She stopped working in Philadelphia's public schools to help manage his career. Chaz first performed on stage when he was just 5 years old. He was an MC at a dance recital for his mother's school.
Chaz Shepherd's Acting Career
Chaz Shepherd's first professional acting job was in a play called Fame. This play was put on by the Walnut Street Theatre. On television, he played Al Bryant in the NBC miniseries The Temptations in 1998. He also appeared on The Parkers.
He was Artis Tower, the son of Steve Tower (Steve Harvey) on Me and the Boys. Chaz also had roles in other popular shows like In the House, Moesha, and Sister, Sister. He played John Hamilton on 7th Heaven for many years. Later, he had a recurring role as Trey Wiggs on The Game. He also played Raymond "Piranha" Jones in the second season of Luke Cage.
Chaz Shepherd also sings. He was a guest lead singer on Judith Christie McAllister's first album. The song was "The Prayer of Recommitment" from her album "Send Judah First" in 2000.
On the Big Screen and Stage
Chaz Shepherd has also acted in movies. He was in Set It Off where he played Stevie. On Broadway, which is a famous theater district, he played Billy Flynn in Chicago in 2018. He also played Harpo in The Color Purple in 2005. His other stage work includes playing Curtis Taylor, Jr. in a national tour of the musical Dreamgirls from 2009 to 2010.
