Kenneth "Chi" McBride (born September 23, 1961) is an American actor. He is known for his many roles in movies and TV shows. Chi McBride often plays important supporting characters in films. On television, he has had many main roles.
You might know him from movies like Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) or I, Robot (2004). He was also in The Frighteners (1996). On TV, he played Principal Steven Harper in Boston Public. He was also Emerson Cod in Pushing Daisies. Later, he became Captain Lou Grover in Hawaii Five-0.

Early life of Chi McBride
Chi McBride was born in Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. His stage name "Chi" comes from his hometown. He grew up in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He went to Shiloh Academy, which is now called Chicago SDA Academy.
Chi McBride first wanted to be a musician. He learned several instruments. He also sang with gospel choirs in Chicago. In 1986, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia. There, he worked for AT&T as a billing clerk.
Chi McBride's Acting Career
Chi McBride's first big break was in music. He was part of a group called KSL. They had a popular song called "Basically, He's the Champ." This song made fun of the marriage of boxer Mike Tyson. Because of this song, McBride signed with Esquire Records. He then joined a rhythm and blues band called Covert.
He soon decided to try acting. He moved to Los Angeles. He got small roles on TV shows like In Living Color and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He also had a role in the TV movie Revenge of the Nerds III: The Next Generation.
In 1998, he co-starred with Bruce Willis in Mercury Rising. He then got a main role as Principal Steven Harper in Boston Public. Chi McBride often plays a helpful friend to the main hero. He did this in movies like Mercury Rising and The Terminal. He also had roles in TV shows like House and Pushing Daisies.
Some of his other movies include Gone in 60 Seconds and I, Robot. He was also in Undercover Brother and Let's Go to Prison. Chi McBride played eight different characters in a play called Nagataki Sake.
In 2010, he starred in the show Human Target. He played Winston, who was the business partner of the main character. The show started in January 2010 on FOX.
From 2013, he played Captain Lou Grover in Hawaii Five-0. He had worked with his co-star Scott Caan before. They were both in the movie Gone in 60 Seconds.
In 2021, Chi McBride joined Verve, a talent agency. In May 2021, CBS announced a new TV show. Chi McBride would star in it with Pete Holmes and Katie Lowes. The show is about a man who becomes a professional bowler. McBride plays Archie, a bowling alley owner. Archie is a friend and mentor to the main character. This new show started in March 2022.
