Chipuxet River facts for kids
The Chipuxet River is a river located in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. It flows for about 8.5 miles (13.7 km). There are also two dams built along the river.
This river is very important. It is the main source of drinking water for the University of Rhode Island. Because a lot of water is taken from the river, it can sometimes run dry.
Where the Chipuxet River Flows
The Chipuxet River starts in Exeter. It begins at a place now called Slocum Reservoir. From there, the river flows south. It passes by the University of Rhode Island. Then, it continues through South Kingstown. Finally, the river reaches its end at Worden Pond.
