Important Events and Investigations

About the Co-location Issue

In 2016, an issue came up at the NSE called the co-location case. This was about how some trading firms might have had unfair access to the stock exchange's computer systems. This could have given them an advantage over others.

SEBI looked into this matter. They found that there were some problems with how things were managed. As a result, Chitra Ramkrishna was asked to return some of her salary. She was also not allowed to work with certain financial companies for five years. This was to make sure the market stayed fair for everyone.

The 'Himalayan Yogi' Investigation

In February 2022, SEBI shared information about another investigation. It was found that for about 20 years, Chitra Ramkrishna had been getting advice from an unknown person. This person was called a 'Himalayan yogi'.

The investigation looked into whether important business information was shared with this person. The CBI, which is a big investigation agency in India, looked into this case. Chitra Ramkrishna was part of this investigation.
