Christian de Montmorency-Luxembourg (born February 9, 1675 – died November 23, 1746) was an important French military leader. He held several noble titles, including prince of Tingry and count of Beaumont and Luxe. He became a marshal of France in 1734, which was the highest military rank in the French army.

Christian was the fourth son of another famous marshal, François-Henri de Montmorency, duc de Luxembourg. His mother was Madeleine de Clermont-Tonnerre. Coming from a family of military leaders, Christian was destined for a life in the army.

The Battle of Denain

One of his most famous achievements was during the battle of Denain in 1712. This battle was a major event in the War of the Spanish Succession. Christian's actions were crucial in helping France win this battle. This victory was very important for France, as it helped end the long war.

Building a Grand Home

Beyond his military career, Christian de Montmorency-Luxembourg also left his mark on French architecture. In 1722, he ordered the construction of a beautiful building called hôtel Matignon. This grand house is still famous today and is now the official residence of the Prime Minister of France.
