Christopher is a small place in Newton County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and buildings that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
A Glimpse into Christopher's Past
The Old Post Office
Christopher once had its own post office! It opened way back in 1885. People living there could send and receive letters and packages right in their community. However, the post office closed its doors in 1907.
The Christopher School
There was also a school in Christopher, known as the Christopher School. It helped educate the children of the area for many years. Today, the school is no longer open. Both the school and the community itself were named after the Christopher family, who were early settlers in the area.
