About the Church of San Juan Bautista
The Church of San Juan Bautista is a special building with a long history. It stands out in Arganda del Rey because of its unique design and tall tower.
What Does It Look Like?
The church is shaped like a Latin cross when you look at it from above. It has three main sections inside, called naves. This design was very popular for churches built a long time ago.
The Tall Bell Tower
One of the most impressive parts of the church is its bell tower. It's super tall, reaching about 60 meters (that's like a 20-story building!). Builders finished this tower between 1709 and 1714.
The very top of the tower has a special roof, typical of buildings in Madrid. It's made of slate and was added in 1781. On top, you can see a ball, a weather vane (which shows wind direction), and a cross.
Inside the Church
If you go inside, you'll find a stunning altarpiece. An altarpiece is a large, decorated screen or panel behind the altar. This one was made in the early 1600s. It's built in the Baroque style, which means it's very fancy and detailed, with lots of carvings and decorations.
