The Church of San Juan Bautista (which means Saint John the Baptist Church in Spanish) is a very old and important church. You can find it in a town called Talamanca de Jarama in Spain. It was officially recognized as a special historical building in 1931. This means it's protected because of its history and beauty.

A Look at the Church's History

This church was built a long, long time ago. It was started either in the late 1100s or early 1200s. Back then, it was built in a style called Romanesque. This style often features thick walls and round arches.

Romanesque and Renaissance Styles

When the church was first built, it had a Romanesque design. But over time, things changed. In the 1500s, most of the church was taken down. Only one part, called the apse, remained from the original building. The apse is the rounded or multi-sided end of a church.

After that, the church was rebuilt. It was given a new look in the Renaissance style. This style was popular in Europe from the 14th to the 17th centuries. It often includes elements from ancient Roman and Greek buildings. So, today, the Church of San Juan Bautista shows a mix of two different historical building styles.
