Discover the Museum's History

This museum building has a long and interesting past! It was first built in 1913.

From Office to Museum

Back then, it was the main office for a big company called the Consolidation Coal Company. This company was very important for the town of Van Lear.

Besides being an office, the building also had other businesses inside. It even served as Van Lear's city hall for a while!

A New Beginning in 1984

After some time, the building was no longer used. Then, a bank called Citizens National Bank bought it. In 1984, the bank gave the building to the Van Lear Historical Society.
