Coimbatore (North) taluk is like a local district or area within Coimbatore City in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Think of it as a smaller part of a bigger city, helping to manage things locally.

On 9 May 2012, the government of Tamil Nadu announced an important change. They decided to split Coimbatore North Taluk into two parts. This created a brand new area called Annur Taluk.

Demographics is a fancy word for studying the people who live in a place. It helps us understand things like how many people there are, how old they are, and if they can read.

According to a count of people done in 2011 (called a census), about 641,021 people lived in Coimbatore (North) taluk. Out of these, 321,922 were males and 319,099 were females. This means for every 1,000 men, there were 991 women.

The taluk also had a good literacy rate of 76.37%. This means that most people aged seven and above could read and write. There were also many young children living there. About 28,302 boys and 27,219 girls were under the age of six.
