The Colonial Mutual Life Building, often called the CML Building, is a special old building in Goulburn, Australia. It used to be an insurance office. This building is so important that it's listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register, which means it's protected because of its history and design. It was added to this list on April 2, 1999.

Building History
Who Designed and Built It?
The CML Building was designed by a company called Hennessy, Hennessy & Co. It was built by Concrete Constructions Ltd.. They planned a two-story building made from brick and strong reinforced concrete.
What Was Inside?
The building had a large shop on the corner of Auburn and Clifford Streets. It also had a banking area and offices on the ground floor. More offices and even a dental office were on the first floor. A tall clock tower stood proudly on the corner of the building. Besides the Colonial Mutual Life offices, it also had a branch of the Bank of New South Wales. This new building was a "reconstruction" of an older bank building that was there before.
When Did It Close?
The Colonial Mutual Life office worked from this building for many years. However, it closed its doors in 1979.
Recent Updates
In 2017, the building received some money to help keep it looking good. About $35,000 was used to fix and repaint the outside. They also made it easier for people with disabilities to access the building.
Building Style
The CML Building has a unique look. Its design is described as being in the "Spanish mission style." This style often includes features like stucco walls, arched openings, and decorative tiles.
