Colorado Bend State Park is a huge park in Texas, a state in the United States. It covers about 5,328 acres of land! This amazing park is found in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. The state bought the land in 1984, and it opened for visitors in 1987. Colorado Bend State Park is famous for its unique natural features. These include many sinkholes, caves, and springs. This type of landscape is called "karst."

Spicewood Springs Trail

The Spicewood Springs trail is a fun path for hikers. It is about 2.5 miles long in one direction. Along this trail, you will cross many small creeks. It also has several natural swimming holes. These swimming spots are filled with cool, fresh water from underground springs. You can even take a slightly different path on your way back!

Gorman Creek Trail and Falls

The Gorman Creek trail is split into two parts. One part has blue markers, and the other has yellow markers. This trail leads you through dry, brushy areas. A highlight of the park is a special kind of rock called travertine. You can see it near the creek on the east side.

The park's most famous spot is Gorman Falls. This is a huge waterfall that drops 65 feet! It is formed by Gorman Creek, which is fed by Gorman Spring and other springs. The waterfall is covered in green ferns, making it look very beautiful.

You can now visit the Gorman Spring trail and the path to the waterfall on your own during park hours. There are also special guided tours available. These tours take you on a 1.5-mile round trip to see the amazing waterfall. If you are feeling adventurous, you can even go on a wild cave tour! These tours range from easy walks to exciting crawls.
