Columbus Vance was a talented baseball player. He was a pitcher in the Negro Leagues from 1927 to 1934. He was born on February 25, 1902, in Paynesville, West Virginia.
Vance played for several teams during his career. He made his first appearance in the Negro Leagues with the Birmingham Black Barons in 1927. He later played for the Homestead Grays and the Indianapolis ABCs. He finished his baseball career back with the Birmingham Black Barons in 1934. Columbus Vance passed away in Elkhart, Indiana, in December 1982, at the age of 80.
