ComFest, also known as The Community Festival, is a super fun annual event. It's a free festival celebrating music and art. Every June, it takes place in Goodale Park in Columbus, Ohio. It's a special festival because it's not run by big companies.

What is ComFest?

ComFest calls itself "The Party with a Purpose." This means it's more than just fun. It's about people working together. Many community members help plan and run the festival. They join teams for things like clean-up, safety, and entertainment. There's even a "World Peace Rocks Forever Committee"!

How ComFest Started

The very first ComFest happened in 1972. It was a way to show off different community groups. These groups included a free newspaper, a health clinic, and a food co-op. The festival still helps people share new ideas. It also encourages everyone to work together.

Supporting the Community

ComFest raises money to help local projects. They sell special drinks to fund the festival itself. They also give money to other community groups. All the tips from these sales go to places that help people without homes. This shows how ComFest truly supports its community.

Recent ComFests

The 45th ComFest was held from June 23 to 25, 2017. Its theme was "The people united will never be defeated." A group called Community Refugee & Immigration Services was featured. A talented musician named Megan Palmer was honored.

The 2019 ComFest took place from June 28 to 30. In 2020, the 48th ComFest was different. It became a virtual event for the first time. This happened because many live events were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
