In France, the concours Advance is like a special entrance exam. It helps students get into four important engineering schools. These schools are called "grandes écoles," which means 'great schools' in French. They are known for their excellent teaching in different science and technology fields.

The four main schools you can join through this exam are:

  • EPITA (École pour l'informatique et les techniques avancées): This school is for students who love computers and creating software.
  • ESME-Sudria: This school focuses on energy. You can learn about how to power our homes and cars.
  • IPSA (Institut polytechnique des sciences avancées): This is the place for those who dream of designing airplanes and spacecraft.
  • Sup'Biotech (Institut Sup'Biotech de Paris): Here, you learn about biotechnology. This field uses living things to create new products, like medicines or special foods.

A Look Back: How it Started

The concours Advance test was first created in 2011. It was started by a group called IONIS Education Group. This group helps run many private higher education schools in France. Later, in 2016, the Sup'Biotech school also joined this special exam.
